IRAQ CASUALTIES

My heart goes out to them

I organized a Kirkland candlelight vigil marking 2,000 casualties in Iraq.

The most poignant moment for me was reading the signs that had the names, ages and other information of the five Kirkland residents who had perished in the war. Forty soldiers from Washington have made the ultimate sacrifice. Kirkland has given more than any other city in Washington.

Something that seems so far away yesterday has come home to my doorstep. My heart goes out to the families and friends of the Kirkland Five.
